Julien Polet is passionate about Africa’s wild spaces. He knows them intimately and is driven by a desire to keep them safe.

A trained lawyer, and a celebrated theatre actor, Julien's life has taken many forms.  But, it wasn’t until 2012, when he found himself in the wilds of Tanzania that his true passion was discovered.

What was meant to be two months in the bush, has turned into 10 years of living and working in some of the most remote corners of Tanzania.

From the wilds of Katavi National Park, deep in the West of the country, to a forest home in Mahale National Park along the shores of Lake Tanganyika, Julien deeply connected with the magic of East Africa.

Time is an essential notion for Julien, and the only way to meet the world of nature was to live it deeply. While working across 5 remote camps for one of East Africa’s original safari companies, he devoured knowledge specific to each area.  He studied the flora and fauna particular to each camp; had a profound connection with the local animals; and came to know and love the magical dance and delicate balance of the ecological community.

Julien's love of literature brought him to this place. From the pages of Alexandre Dumas and Jules Verne to the jungles, lakes and plains of Tanzania. Becoming a deft photographer whilst in Tanzania, he found a passion in capturing the most remarkable moments in the wild.

All photography and video on this site are his own.

Let Julien invite you into his world and share his knowledge and passion for Tanzania and her inhabitants with you.
